Welcome to my website.

My name is Baye Hunter. I am a Canadian painter, photographer and mixed media artist. My primary love is houses, using watercolour and Japanese paper collage to bring to life on paper the places that are dear to our hearts. I am also a bicycle artist and cycling advocate. I believe that living simply is the answer to the environmental crisis that we face in the world, the more we focus on low-impact transportation, local foods and living close to the earth and to the heart, the more we can heal our planet.

Each piece of artwork I create is layered by hand with images I have captured with my camera, in my drawings, and paintings. As a photographer, taking the photograph is as important as post-processing the image which I do in Photoshop, to enhance the image and capture an experience and vision. In collage and watercolour, I also work in layers, mixing textures, colours and scale to create subtly dynamic pieces. My unique vision for the places in which we live, reverence for the natural world and ability to conjure emotion from calm, uncluttered compositions is my trademark style. more
